Story

In Criminal Case: Travel in Time, a world map changes across time and contains 31 unsolved cases. Each case takes place during one of seven historical periods shown on the map.

• Between 47 BC and 37 BC: the game offers four to five cases.

Key Time Periods

• The first milestone is Ancient Times, covering the span between 47 BC and 37 BC.
• Time travelers disguised as “heroes” create a chain reaction by interfering with history and clearing a path of crime—fictional time machine failures and fictional Roman campaigns are part of their “work.”
• In the 1960s, a group of detectives is trapped in a time portal created by an outside organization. This sparks cases tied to the US–Soviet geopolitical rivalry and the mounting pressure of the Cold War.
• That era also includes investigations linked to multiple nations chasing global dominance.
• To return to 2029, a team of geniuses must locate Leonardo da Vinci and restore his time machine.
• The Renaissance period is set around 1515.
• Alongside parallel timelines, you’ll also encounter timelines set in ancient Egypt, medieval Asia, the Age of Sail, and more.

After you resolve the previous murder, the timeline shifts slightly—so the geniuses’ trip into the future continues. Once you’ve finished every case, keep investigating in Crime Scene Investigation.

Gameplay

Your objective at each scene is simple: find all clues as quickly as possible. A checklist of the items you need appears at the bottom of the screen. However, some item labels can be a bit misleading.

This is a hidden object-style experience. As with most hidden object games, the faster you locate items, the higher your score.

Evidence, Interviews, and Forensics

After you discover physical evidence, you must send it to a laboratory for analysis. At times, you can also speak with suspects or witnesses—they may share important information or point you toward new places to investigate.

You’ll need sharp observation to search through messy, confusing environments for items crucial to solving the case. Hidden clues are embedded throughout the game and can act like helpful guidance from your colleagues. Some item hints are provided via clickable words—pressing them shows images of relevant items. If you want a bigger challenge, it’s smart to do your own research before using that help.

Forensic Examination

Once you’ve gathered the necessary information, the paperwork at the scene is complete and you move into the role of a forensic investigator. Perform an autopsy to determine the killer’s motive and method, and gather details such as the victim’s dominant hand, height, and build.
